Just thought I'd let you guys in on my travail:
I was moving my tower system with the skins off, and a small spark jumped from
my finger to the frame. (!) After that, the computer seemed DOA.
I walked away during the boot process, had dinner, and lo when I returned it HAD
completed the Boot Seq. (henceforth, BS)
Further experimentation revealed that it was taking >60 minutes to complete the
BS. Kill the PCIscsi option in SETUP made this happen MUCH faster, and after
several hd-fixing auto-sessions it seems pretty stable, although my network card
seems pretty flakey now.
Lessons: Always ground yourself, or work naked.
Killing certain auto-detect modes may make things happen faster.
Disk validation can be a cause of delays.
Good luck!
